La Doncella Guerrera: Puppet Show in Madrid's Retiro Park

This free puppet adaptation of the traditional Spanish romance "La doncella guerrera" tells the story of Martina, the youngest of seven daughters, who disguises herself as a knight to fight for the kingdom. The tale, rooted in Hispanic tradition and collected by Menéndez Pidal, has traveled across cultures from Portugal to Morocco, Greece, and Italy.

Performed at the Teatro de Títeres de El Retiro, the show brings to life a story of courage, wit, and freedom. Attendees can expect a family-friendly atmosphere suitable for ages 6 and up, with two performances in the evening.

The venue is located in Madrid's iconic Retiro Park, accessible via the Puerta de la Independencia entrance. Free tickets must be downloaded in advance starting August 20, 2026.
