Earth, Wind & Fire
Earth, Wind & Fire are an American band formed in Chicago in 1969 by drummer and bandleader Maurice White, evolving out of an earlier group called the Salty Peppers. The name reflects three of the four classical elements, taken from White's astrological birth chart, and the group's lineup came to include his brother Verdine White on bass, Philip Bailey on vocals, Ralph Johnson on percussion, Andrew Woolfolk on saxophone, Al McKay on guitar and Larry Dunn on keyboards.

Über Earth, Wind & Fire
The band's music fuses funk, soul, jazz, disco, Latin and pop into what critics have called progressive soul, built around White's falsetto interplay with Philip Bailey and a horn-driven live sound. Their run of 1970s albums, including That's the Way of the World and the double album Gratitude, both number one on the Billboard 200, followed by the Grammy-winning All 'n All, I Am and Raise!, produced hits such as "September," "After the Love Has Gone" and "Let's Groove."
Earth, Wind & Fire have sold more than 90 million records worldwide and won six Grammy Awards from 17 nominations, along with four American Music Awards. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, and received Kennedy Center Honors in 2019.
