Über José Madero
With Panda, Madero released nine studio albums between 2000 and 2013, drawing on folk rock, indie rock, pop rock, and alternative rock with influences from glam rock, punk, and grunge, and helping establish the band as one of the most prominent acts in Mexican rock. He studied law at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, graduating in 2003, before committing fully to music.
Madero left Panda in 2016 and has since built a solo career, releasing seven studio albums and an EP between 2016 and 2024 — including Carmesí, Noche, Alba, and Sarajevo — under Universal Music. He has also published three books spanning personal essays and children's horror fiction, and co-hosts the podcast Dos Nombres Comunes.
