Maccio Capatonda is the stage name of Marcello Macchia, an Italian comedian, actor, writer and filmmaker born on August 2, 1978, in Vasto, Abruzzo. He has been active in Italian entertainment since 2003, first gaining recognition through the Italia 1 programme Mai dire..., and has been a member of the comedy collective Lo Zoo di 105 since 2011. His comedy centres on parodying everyday Italian speech and behaviour through exaggerated, wordplay-driven characters that satirise commercials, reality television and soap operas.
Beyond sketches, Capatonda has written and directed several feature films, including Italiano medio (2015), Quel bravo ragazzo (2016), Omicidio all'italiana (2017) and Robbing Mussolini (2022), and has lent his voice to Italian dubs of The Angry Birds Movie franchise and DC League of Super-Pets. He has also published two books, Libro (2021) and Libro 2 (2022), and continues to appear in web series such as Vita da Carlo, extending his sketch-born characters across film, television and print.
