Über Much Ado About Nothing
Set in Messina, the play follows two romantic pairings: the soldier Claudio and Hero, whose engagement is nearly destroyed by a deception orchestrated by the villain Don John, and the sparring wits Beatrice and Benedick, who are tricked by their friends into falling in love. The Beatrice-Benedick plot, largely original to Shakespeare, is regarded as one of his most celebrated comic romances and has been widely adapted for stage and film.
