Über Paul Cauthen
Cauthen launched his solo career in 2016 with My Gospel, which Rolling Stone included among the year's best country records. He followed with Room 41 (2019) and Country Coming Down (2022), and released Book of Paul in April 2026. His deep baritone voice has earned him the nickname 'Big Velvet.'
He made his Grand Ole Opry debut in 2018 and has collaborated with artists including Cody Jinks, Margo Price and Orville Peck. His song 'Everybody Walking This Land' was featured in the second season of the television series American Gods.
Cauthen is based in Tyler, Texas, and his catalogue mixes gospel-influenced production with neotraditional country songwriting, a combination critics have connected to his upbringing around church music in North Texas.
