Robert Glasper is an American pianist, composer and producer born April 5, 1978, in Houston, Texas. He studied at The New School in New York and built his early career as a sideman before establishing himself as a bandleader blending jazz with hip-hop, R&B and neo-soul.

Über Robert Glasper

His 2012 album Black Radio, recorded with an array of R&B and hip-hop guest vocalists, won the Grammy Award for Best R&B Album and became his commercial breakthrough. He followed it with Black Radio 2 (2013), the all-acoustic Covered (2015), the Miles Davis tribute Everything's Beautiful (2016) and Black Radio III (2022), which also won a Grammy.

Beyond his own recordings, Glasper has produced and written for artists including Mac Miller, Anderson .Paak and Kendrick Lamar. He won a Primetime Emmy Award in 2017 for his contribution to 'A Letter to the Free,' from Ava DuVernay's documentary 13th, and has won five Grammy Awards overall from eleven nominations.
