Cirque du Soleil - OVO in Oberhausen

Cirque du Soleil brings its vibrant insect-themed production OVO to Oberhausen, immersing audiences in a world where movement and life collide. Inspired by the bustling ecosystem of bugs, the show features a colorful cast of characters including the chaotic Master Flipo, the mysterious Foreigner, and the joyful Ladybug. Attendees can expect a dynamic blend of acrobatics, aerial feats, and playful storytelling, all set to a Brazilian-inspired score by composer Berna Ceppas.

From the moment the pounding samba opening gives way to a calming guitar, the audience is transported into a whimsical insect colony. Highlights include ants juggling kiwis and corn on their feet, a dragonfly balancing on a rotating block, and butterflies soaring on aerial straps. The production also features a giant inflatable egg, a 19-meter rear wall, and the largest flying act Cirque du Soleil had undertaken as of 2010, requiring eighty cables and dozens of performers.

With over 50 performing artists from 16 countries, OVO offers a spectacle of movement and color. The show's ten acrobatic acts, from the Russian cradle to the contortionist spiders, are woven into a narrative of discovery and romance.
