In the still-smoking ruins of catastrophe, a cabaret comes to life: Le Mauvais Sort, where the images and passions of the Western world are purged. At the heart of the disaster, the audience sings and laughs at what amorous desire can provoke, as roles waver and certainties crack, shaking the established order.

On this end-of-the-world stage, four archetypal figures of power—a police officer, a journalist, a doctor, and a star singer—perform burlesque sketches, love songs, magic tricks, and stripteases. These familiar yet grotesque characters re-enact the symptoms of our amorous passions, leading to intimate collapse. The show centers on the irrepressible desire as a counter-spell against a world obsessed with controlling bodies and imaginations.

Céline Champinot leads this yoyo of the amorous state, with its excesses and swings. Full of reversals and changes in tone, Le Mauvais Sort plays tricks and invents expiatory rituals to purge heartaches, turning unhappy love experiences into the fertile ground of a joyful and irreverent carnival.
