Alle Details lesen

This intimate theatrical performance by Compagnie Bessa traces translator Laurence Sendrowicz's first meeting with major Israeli playwright Hanokh Levin on a cold February day in 1992. The show weaves personal testimony with Levin's texts—some well-known, others unpublished—exploring themes of betrayal and veneration.

Born in Tel Aviv in 1943, Levin wrote some fifty plays and caused scandal with his vitriolic political cabarets from the 1960s onward. A fundamental humanist, he tirelessly opposed conquest and occupation. Sendrowicz has translated and adapted his works into French for over three decades.

The production is directed by Nafi Salah, a founder of the Théâtre des Quartiers in Israel, with original music by brothers Yaacov and Méïr Salah. The performance takes place at the Bibliothèque Oscar Wilde in Paris's 20th arrondissement.
