De Notenkraker was a Dutch political and satirical weekly magazine that ran from 1907 to 1936. Originating as a Sunday supplement to the socialist newspaper Het Volk, it became known for its sharp cartoons and illustrations critiquing the monarchy, capitalism, and militarism.
Famous cartoonists like Leendert Jordaan and Albert Hahn Sr. contributed powerful anti-war and anti-monarchy illustrations. Later contributors included George Van Raemdonck, Tjerk Bottema, and Albert Funke Küpper, who drove the publication until his death in 1934.
The magazine declined after World War I but saw a revival in the 1930s with new illustrators. It ceased publication in July 1936, leaving a legacy as a key voice in Dutch socialist satire.
