The İzmir Enternasyonal Fuarı traces back to a domestic goods exhibition held alongside the 1923 İzmir Economic Congress, and evolved through a series of renamings into the city's international fair. In 1936 the event moved into Kültürpark, a green exhibition ground opened that same year, where the first international edition was staged as the Arsıulusal İzmir Fuarı. The park has been the fair's home ever since.
Today the fair is a broad commercial and cultural gathering, bringing thousands of exhibitors and visitors together for extensive trade and cultural exchange. It is produced by İZFAŞ, a public company created to modernise fair practices and support İzmir's economy and culture.
