ALI at Jack London Revue

Jakarta trio Ali brings its cross-cultural groove to Portland's Jack London Revue. The band layers Middle Eastern culture over 1970s Indonesian psychedelic funk, cinematic soul, afro beat, and disco, with every lyric sung in Arabic. The result is a groove-heavy set that reflects centuries of Middle Eastern influence on Indonesian art and music.

On stage, Arswandaru handles bass and vocals, John Paul drives the drums, and Absar Lebeh adds guitar, completing the trio. They describe their sound as 'Middle Eastern Beats with South East Twists.' With an open dance floor and limited first-come seating, the evening invites you to move — and special guests are still to be announced.
