Alle Details lesen

Drunk Shakespeare is an off-Broadway play where five actors attempt to perform one of Shakespeare's works—but one of them has downed four to six shots of alcohol in front of the audience. The intoxicated performer can do anything they want, and the four sober actors must follow their lead, resulting in unpredictable and hilarious chaos.

The show premiered at Quinn's Bar and Grill in March 2014 and has since expanded to Chicago, Washington D.C., Phoenix, and Houston. With over 2,000 performances as of January 2019, it has earned a New York Times Critic's Pick, with the review noting that "it seems inevitable that all performing will soon be done either plastered or stoned." The production follows a trend of drinking and performing popularized by the Comedy Central series *Drunk History*.

Current New York cast members include Sarah Ann Leahy, Craig Jackson, Samuel Adams, Gracie Lee Brown, Ryan Farnsworth, Travis Raeburn, Sky Young, Brandon Salerno, Ali Regan, and Morgan Haney. In 2023, the actors, stage managers, bartenders, and servers unionized as Drunk Shakespeare United, reflecting the show's growth and professionalization.
