Water for Elephants (Touring)

This touring production of *Water for Elephants* brings the Broadway musical to San Diego. Based on Sara Gruen's 2006 novel, the show features a book by Rick Elice and music and lyrics by PigPen Theatre Co. The story follows Jacob Jankowski, a veterinary student who joins a traveling circus during the Great Depression and bonds with an elephant named Rosie.

The musical centers on Jacob's relationships with star performer Marlena and her husband August, the volatile ringmaster. It received seven Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical, and was praised for its visual spectacle. The touring production recreates the circus world of the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

Attendees will experience period music, circus animals, and a narrative of love and survival. The show's blend of drama and romance offers a compelling story set against the backdrop of the Great Depression.
