Whalefall leads a five-band bill at Neck of the Woods, the San Francisco club on Clement Street. The six-piece emerged from the Berkeley DIY scene with a sound that blends garage alt-rock, Midwest emo, grunge, and shoegaze. Vivian Wall's aching vocals sit over intricate guitar riffs and a trumpet that cuts through the mix; the band's live sets are energetic enough to dance around the room and heavy enough for late-night listening.
