ZZ Top Brings Texas Rock to Knoxville

ZZ Top brings its well-over-a-half-century mix of rock, blues and boogie to Knoxville. The band's look — sunglasses, hats, long beards — is as much a part of the show as the music, with hotrod cars and spinning guitars woven into the iconography. Founded in Houston when its members were all 20, the trio built a signature sound on Billy Gibbons' blues guitar and the rhythm section of Dusty Hill and Frank Beard.

Expect a set that reaches from early Texas boogie to the MTV-era hits of Eliminator and Afterburner, with classic-rock staples like "La Grange" and "Tush" in the mix. The band's sly, humorous lyrics and reputation for live performances have kept audiences coming back for decades, and longtime guitar tech Elwood Francis now carries on in place of the late Dusty Hill.
