Jack Johnson is an American singer-songwriter born May 18, 1975. A former professional surfer, he shifted his focus toward music after a serious surfing accident at the Banzai Pipeline at age 17, and began his recording career in the early 1990s before rising to prominence in the 2000s.

His albums include Brushfire Fairytales (2001), In Between Dreams (2005), which peaked at number two on the Billboard 200, Sleep Through the Static (2008), To the Sea (2010), and Meet the Moonlight (2022); he has had four number-one albums on the Billboard 200. His best-known songs include "Better Together," "Sitting, Waiting, Wishing," "Good People," "Upside Down," and "You and Your Heart."

Johnson gained early recognition through collaborations with G. Love and Ben Harper before launching his solo career, developing a laid-back acoustic sound informed by his background in surf culture. He won the Brit Award for International Breakthrough Artist in 2006.

Beyond music, Johnson has been active in environmental causes, founding the Johnson Ohana Charitable Foundation and the Kōkua Hawaii Foundation, which focus on ocean conservation and education; he received the Billboard Touring Award for Humanitarian Achievement in 2010.
