Centroamérica Cuenta: Book Club with Claudia Amador

The literary festival Centroamérica Cuenta brings its 2026 edition to Spain, and this September a special book club session takes place at Madrid's Biblioteca Pública Municipal San Fermín. The focus is on *Altasangre*, the debut novel by Colombian writer Claudia Amador, who will lead the discussion of her own work.

*Altasangre* follows Julieta, born with long fangs and an insatiable hunger, as her family realizes she won't be easy to tame. Now this fierce girl is about to become the queen of the Barranquilla Carnival, trained by her grandmother to inherit a throne of a lineage that feeds on blood and power. The novel pulses with rhythm, irony, and darkness, set to the sound of drums and secrets.

Amador, born in Colombia in 1998, studied literary studies and creative writing, and her speculative stories have appeared across Spain, Mexico, Uruguay, and Colombia. She has won several awards, including the 2024 Premio Nacional de Narrativa Elisa Mújica for *Altasangre*. Attendees can expect an intimate evening of literary discussion with the author in a public library setting.
