Nanterre, France

City guide

Nanterre

Nanterre is a Paris suburb just west of the city, best known as the site of the University of Nanterre, where the student unrest that helped spark the May 1968 protests began, and for its proximity to La Defense, Europe's largest purpose-built business district. It is largely a working and residential commune rather than a sightseeing destination.
