The Long Ryders bring their blend of alternative country and Paisley Underground rock to Nottingham. Formed in Los Angeles in the early 1980s, the band channels influences from Gram Parsons, the Byrds, and punk into a sound that anticipated the alt-country movement. Attendees can expect a set drawing from their 1980s catalog and their 2019 comeback album, their first studio release in 32 years.
The current lineup features founding members Sid Griffin and Stephen McCarthy on vocals and guitar, alongside drummer Greg Sowders. The band's live shows are known for their energetic mix of jangly guitars and country-tinged melodies, reminiscent of Buffalo Springfield and the Flying Burrito Brothers. This Nottingham date is part of a brief reunion tour, offering a rare chance to see a seminal act from the Paisley Underground era.
