ΚΑΡΥΟΘΡΑΥΣΤΗΣ Grand Classical Ballet in Athens

This December, Athens hosts the Grand Classical Ballet production of *ΚΑΡΥΟΘΡΑΥΣΤΗΣ* (The Nutcracker), a holiday tradition. The performance follows the choreography by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, set to Tchaikovsky's score. Classical ballet technique is on display, including pointe work, turnout, and high extensions.

The story follows a young girl whose Nutcracker doll comes to life, leading to a battle with the Mouse King and a journey to the Land of Sweets. The second act features character dances such as the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. The production uses the corps de ballet and grand pas de deux structures that Petipa established.
