Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady- Mqabba

Mqabba marks the Assumption of Our Lady on Friday 14 August 2026, one of several Maltese parishes celebrating the same feast day. Streets are decorated with banners and lights, and brass bands play through the day ahead of an evening procession that carries the statue of the Virgin Mary through the village.

Fireworks follow after dark, and food stalls along the route sell qubbajt (nougat), imqaret (fried pastries) and other Maltese specialities.

The celebration is free to attend, and it follows the same core format as Assumption feasts elsewhere in Malta: band, procession, stalls, fireworks.
