Things to Do in Łódź 2026
Κοινοποίηση
Łódź built its 19th-century fortune on textiles and its modern reputation on film — the Łódź Film School counts Roman Polanski and Andrzej Wajda among its alumni, and the city's former factories have been reborn as cultural quarters rather than torn down.

Piotrkowska Street, at around 4.2 km one of the longest commercial streets in Europe, runs the length of the centre lined with restored 19th-century townhouses, bars and galleries. Manufaktura, a vast former textile mill, is now a shopping, arts and entertainment complex, and the club Wytwórnia hosts a busy year-round jazz and live-music programme.

Why visit Łódź
Łódź is Poland's clearest example of industrial heritage turned cultural asset — its 19th-century textile fortunes left behind an unusually complete stock of factory architecture, and the city has converted rather than demolished it, from Manufaktura's shopping-and-arts complex to the EC1 power-station-turned-planetarium.
It is also the country's film capital: the Film School's alumni roster is one of European cinema's most decorated, and the Museum of Cinematography and a clutch of film-themed murals along Piotrkowska Street make the connection tangible for visitors.
