Woyzeck by auéééu at CCB

Georg Büchner's unfinished masterpiece *Woyzeck* gets a bold new staging by the Portuguese collective auéééu at the Centro Cultural de Belém. Inspired by Sergei Parajanov's film *The Colour of Pomegranates*, the production transforms the stage into a dystopian scientific laboratory where humanoid machines operate under an artificial intelligence devoid of ethics. The play follows Büchner's iconic anti-hero — a proletarian and madman crushed by a rapidly changing world.

The cast includes Filipe Velez, Frederico Barata, Joana Manaças and Sérgio Coragem. The creative team brings together filmmaker Manuela Viegas, sculptor Fernando Roussado, illustrator Filipe Andrade and lighting designer Daniel Worm d'Assumpção. This fragmented, open text offers a fertile ground for auéééu's experimental vision, making for a thought-provoking theatrical experience.

Presented at the prestigious Centro Cultural de Belém in Lisbon, this production runs over four days with evening and afternoon performances. It is recommended for audiences aged 16 and above.
