Andrew McMahon brings his piano to the stage for a solo evening in Charlotte. He has spent years as the vocalist, pianist and lyricist for Something Corporate, as the main songwriter behind Jack's Mannequin, and as a solo artist releasing albums under his own name and as Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness — a catalog that gives this set plenty of ground to cover. Singer-songwriter Ivory Layne opens the show.
The evening also carries a charitable thread: a portion of each ticket goes to The Dear Jack Foundation, which supports adolescents and young adults diagnosed with cancer. With the show sold out, those in the room will settle in for McMahon's piano-driven songwriting in a more focused setting — a chance to hear songs from across his band years and solo records, played by the person who wrote them.
