Long Beach Dub Allstars bring their mix of reggae, rock, ska, hip-hop, hard dub, and soul to Blue Note Hawaii. Foundational torchbearers of the post-Sublime reggae-rock movement, they're behind Echo Mountain High, an album that grew from yard-session demos by Opie Ortiz and Edwin Kampwirth into 13 songs tracked straight to tape. Expect a groovy, intimate set drawing from the new record and the band's earlier catalogue.
Formed by members of Sublime, the group built a following with Right Back and Wonders of the World before breaking up and later reuniting. The current lineup features Opie Ortiz, Michael 'Miguel' Happoldt, Tim Wu, Roger Rivas, Ed Kampwirth, and Gil Sharone. Their music touches on love, social issues, and wide-open soundscapes, with guests like Chris Dowd, Devin Morrison, Jesse Wagner, Philieano, and Travis Goertz on the latest album.
