Overview
Les Nuits de Fourvière is Lyon's most spectacular summer festival, staging concerts, theatre, dance and circus performances in the ancient Roman amphitheatres of Fourvière hill overlooking the city each June and July. International headliners perform under the stars in one of Europe's most extraordinary open-air venues. Programme at nuitsdefourviere.fr.
Since 1946, the Nuits de Fourvière has transformed Lyon's ancient Roman theater into a vibrant summer festival of music, theater, circus, dance, and film. The 2026 edition marks the 80th anniversary, with special celebratory balls—disco, masked, and folk—inviting audiences to dance under the stars. The festival continues through late July, offering a diverse program that includes concerts, circus acts, and dance performances. A unique tradition sees spectators throwing their seat cushions toward the stage at the end of each show, a gesture of appreciation that adds to the electric atmosphere. Beyond the main stages, the festival fosters community with workshops and behind-the-scenes experiences, making it a cultural highlight of the Lyon summer.
The festival includes theater, circus, music, dance, and film presentations.
