Acerca de Billy Ocean
His breakthrough single "Love Really Hurts Without You" reached the charts in 1976, but his commercial peak came in the 1980s with "Caribbean Queen (No More Love on the Run)" in 1984, "When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going" in 1985, and "Get Outta My Dreams, Get into My Car" in 1988. His albums Suddenly (1984) and Love Zone (1986) were both major international sellers.
Ocean's music blends R&B, pop, soul, and reggae influences, and his run of hits between 1976 and 1988 established him as one of the era's most successful British soul artists. He won the Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance in 1985.
He later received the MOBO Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010 and an honorary doctorate from the University of Westminster in 2002, and in 2020 was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire for services to music.
