Acerca de Blancmange
Drawing on the sounds of Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Yazoo, Simple Minds and Talking Heads, Blancmange reached the UK top twenty four times in the early 1980s with the singles "Living on the Ceiling", "Blind Vision", "Don't Tell Me" and "Waves". Their debut album Happy Families (1982) made the UK top thirty, and the synth-heavy follow-up Mange Tout (1984) reached number eight, boosted by a cover of ABBA's "The Day Before You Came".
Commercial momentum faded after the 1985 album Believe You Me, and Arthur and Luscombe amicably disbanded in June 1986. The duo reunited in the late 2000s and released a fourth studio album, Blanc Burn, in 2011, after which Luscombe withdrew from performing following an abdominal aortic aneurysm. He died in September 2025 at the age of 70.
Neil Arthur has continued recording and touring as Blancmange with rotating session musicians, releasing a steady run of albums since the 2011 reunion alongside other collaborative projects.
