Portugal. The Man
Portugal. The Man is an American rock band formed in 2004 by John Gourley and Zachary Carothers, who met as students at Wasilla High School in Wasilla, Alaska, in 2001. The band originated in Alaska and is now based in Portland, Oregon, playing a mix of alternative rock, psychedelic rock, psychedelic pop, experimental rock, and indie rock.

Acerca de Portugal. The Man
Since its 2006 debut, the band has released ten studio albums, working across labels including Fearless Records, Equal Vision Records, and Atlantic Records. Gourley remains the band's sole official member, performing with a rotating cast of touring musicians live, including bassist Carothers.
The band's breakthrough came with the single "Feel It Still," from the 2017 album Woodstock, which reached number one on multiple Billboard charts and won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance in 2018. Later releases include Chris Black Changed My Life (2023) and Shish (2025).
Beyond music, Portugal. The Man is active in philanthropic work through its PTM Foundation, supporting environmental conservation, Indigenous rights, and mental health awareness initiatives.
