Acerca de Salt N Pepa
Their debut album, Hot, Cool & Vicious (1986), went platinum on the strength of "Push It," and they followed it with A Salt with a Deadly Pepa (1988), Blacks' Magic (1990) and Very Necessary (1993), the last of which sold more than five million copies domestically and seven million worldwide. Its singles "Shoop" and "Whatta Man," the latter featuring En Vogue, became defining hits of early-1990s hip hop and pop radio, alongside earlier singles "Expression" and "Let's Talk About Sex."
The group won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group in 1995 for "None of Your Business," making them the first female rap act to win the category, and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021. Salt-N-Pepa were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2025, having sold more than 15 million records worldwide and earned recognition as pioneers who helped open commercial hip hop to women performers.
