Seattle Mariners
The Seattle Mariners are a Major League Baseball team based in Seattle, Washington, and members of the American League West division. The franchise was established in 1977, its name chosen through a public contest referencing the city's maritime history, and it played its first game that April at the Kingdome.

Acerca de Seattle Mariners
The team's early decades were marked by losing records, but its fortunes turned in the late 1980s and 1990s with the arrival of players including Ken Griffey Jr., Randy Johnson and Edgar Martinez. A 1995 playoff victory over the New York Yankees is widely credited with helping keep baseball in Seattle. The Mariners moved from the Kingdome to a new downtown ballpark, now known as T-Mobile Park, in 1999.
