The heart of the Sinebrychoff Art Museum is the unique home of Paul and Fanny Sinebrychoff, which has been on permanent display on the second floor of the building since 27 November 1921. The Sinebrychoffs’ palatial town house at Bulevardi 40 was completed in 1842. The building was immediately considered to be one of the most significant private homes in Helsinki. The Sinebrychoff House Museum opens the doors of the palatial town house that Paul and Fanny Sinebrychoff once called home. Completed in 1842, the building was immediately considered one of the most significant private homes in Helsinki. Today it preserves the atmosphere of the family home, with the couple's passion for European art still visible in the rooms.
Paul and Fanny filled the house with European art and decorative objects, and when their collection was donated to the Finnish state in 1921 it numbered more than 900 pieces. The couple clearly wanted the collection to be public, and that spirit still lives on in the museum. Visitors can explore the history of the building and the family, browse the object collections, and use the digital guide or join a guided tour.
