Simon Spang-Hanssen & Ear Witness at Le Baiser Salé

Ear Witness brings together Simon Spang-Hanssen, Mario Canonge, Linley Marthe, and Adriano Tenorio for a series of contemporary jazz performances at Le Baiser Salé in central Paris. The quartet blends written composition with continuous improvisation, creating an open aesthetic shaped by Spang-Hanssen's collaborations with figures like John Tchicai and Michel Portal.

Each musician brings a distinct voice: Canonge's percussive piano draws on Caribbean influences and his work with Nguyên Lê; Marthe, formerly of the Joe Zawinul Syndicate, delivers a dense, virtuosic bass sound; and Tenorio's Brazilian-rooted drumming provides a fluid, rhythmic foundation. The collective language is both taut and organic, with each player maintaining their identity while building a cohesive whole.

The setlist includes excerpts from Spang-Hanssen's upcoming album *Seconds Ago* (released August 28, 2026) and pays homage to Félix Sabal-Lecco. Le Baiser Salé, located on Rue des Lombards in the lively Châtelet district, offers a welcoming bar and terrace for pre- or post-show drinks.
