Monolord and Khemmis in Detroit

Detroit's TSDMAAC hosts a two-band heavy music bill that pairs Sweden's Monolord with the heavy metal group Khemmis. Monolord emerged from Gothenburg with a sound built on a massive wall of rumbling distortion, low-tuned riffs and vocals that move from slow, staggering grooves to expansive, ten-minute-plus dirges. Their lyrics dig into misanthropy and the darker side of human nature.

The night brings stoner metal and heavy metal together on one stage. Monolord has toured the US and Europe repeatedly, including festival appearances, while Khemmis rounds out the bill. Both acts stay in the lower, heavier end of rock, making this an all-ages show for fans of dense, gritty metal.
