Leer todos los detalles

This contemporary art exhibition offers a critical reflection on the collections of the Institute for Tropical Scientific Research, housed at the museum since 2015. Featuring never-before-seen works by six artists—Ilídio Candja, Jorgette Dumby, Márcio Carvalho, Nuno Silas, Osias André, and Raquel Lima—the pieces were developed after months of deep research into archives and collections from scientific missions to Guinea-Bissau, Angola, and Mozambique between the 1930s and 1950s.

Curated by Márcio Carvalho, Nuno Silas, and Sophie Kotanyi, the project challenges traditional readings of these objects and brings new perspectives to their presence in the museum space. Visitors can expect a thought-provoking journey through shadows and memories, questioning the contexts of production and collection of these historical artifacts.
