Drummer and bandleader Gerry Gibbs presents the 2026 edition of The Dream Band at Birdland Jazz Club, featuring an all-star quintet of NEA Jazz Masters: saxophonist Gary Bartz, trumpeter Randy Brecker, bassist Buster Williams, and pianist Cyrus Chestnut. Gibbs has 17 solo albums and multiple GRAMMY nominations, with a career spanning collaborations from Alice Coltrane to Kamasi Washington.
Gary Bartz, a veteran of Miles Davis and Art Blakey, brings a storied alto sax. Randy Brecker, a seven-time GRAMMY winner and jazz-fusion pioneer, adds acclaimed trumpet. Cyrus Chestnut, described by Time as 'the best jazz pianist of his generation,' delivers elegant solos. Buster Williams, whose bass anchored Herbie Hancock and Nancy Wilson, provides a rock-solid foundation shaped by decades at the forefront of jazz.
The five-night residency at Birdland Jazz Club (315 West 44th Street, New York) gives audiences a rare chance to hear these legends together.
