Leer todos los detalles
Grammy-winning percussionist Pedrito Martinez makes his debut at Bleecker Bell, bringing electrifying Afro-Cuban rhythms and powerful vocals. Widely regarded as the greatest living Afro-Cuban percussionist, Martinez has collaborated with Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, and Wynton Marsalis. His performance is a celebration of dance, heritage, and improvisation, making it impossible to sit still.
Raised in Havana's Cayo Hueso neighborhood, where rumba is a way of life, Martinez developed a deep foundation in Afro-Cuban traditions and their African origins. The Pedrito Martinez Group, formed in 2005, has earned Grammy nominations and is known for its rhythmic power. The New York Times has called Martinez 'a source of rhythmic delight...as close as traditional Afro-Cuban music has to a superstar.'
This debut at Bleecker Bell features Martinez's ensemble turning rhythm into pure joy. Audiences can expect intricate percussion and vocal interplay that honors both tradition and innovation.
