He learned guitar, piano and trombone from his father, played in his father's jazz band at 16, and went on a first tour with Hanns Dieter Hüsch in 1982.
His first programme, Ich bin auf jeden Fall da!, premiered in 1992, and he first performed at the Mainzer Unterhaus in 1994, after which a tour made him known nationwide. His awards include the Scharfrichterbeil in 1993 and the Deutscher Kleinkunstpreis in the Kleinkunst category in 1997. His discography runs from the 1995 album Allerhöchste Tastenzeit to the 2024 release Boomerland.
Alongside the stage work he has presented television and radio programmes, including Reichows Welt on SWR, Kunscht! - Kultur im Südwesten on SWR from 2014 to 2016, and the ZDF programme Die Lars Reichow Show in 2015. From 2013 to 2023 he delivered the news segment on the carnival broadcast Mainz bleibt Mainz, wie es singt und lacht. In 2018 he toured with the jazz pianist and composer Sebastian Sternal and a band.
