Melvins
Melvins is an American rock band formed in Montesano, Washington, in 1983, named after a disliked supervisor at a local Thriftway grocery store. Guitarist and vocalist Buzz Osborne founded the group and remains its only original member; drummer Dale Crover, who joined in 1984, is the band's only other constant presence. Early lineups included original drummer Mike Dillard and bassist Matt Lukin, who played with the band from 1983 to 1987.

À propos de Melvins
Melvins are credited as pioneers of sludge metal and were an early influence on grunge and alternative metal, with AllMusic noting that their combination of punk and Black Sabbath-influenced riffing shaped everything from grunge to doom metal. The band influenced Nirvana and Soundgarden during its early Pacific Northwest years and later informed acts such as Tool, Sleep, Mastodon and High on Fire.
Melvins released early albums including Gluey Porch Treatments (1987) and Bullhead (1991) before signing to Atlantic Records for Houdini (1993) and Stoner Witch (1994). The band relocated to San Francisco in 1988 and has remained prolific since, releasing more than twenty-five studio albums, including Thunderball (2025), and undertaking extensive tours such as a 51-date North American run in 2012.
