The Phantom of the Opera is a musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber, based on the 1910 novel by Gaston Leroux, with lyrics by Charles Hart and additional lyrics by Richard Stilgoe. Directed by Hal Prince, it opened at Her Majesty's Theatre in London's West End in 1986, starring Michael Crawford as the Phantom and Sarah Brightman as Christine.

The story follows a disfigured musical genius who haunts the Paris Opera House and becomes obsessed with a young soprano. One of the most commercially successful stage productions in history, it ran continuously in the West End for over three decades, closing briefly during the COVID-19 pandemic before reopening in 2021, and has also had long runs on Broadway and in productions worldwide.
