Madrid, Ciudad en Transformación: History & Art Workshop

This four-session workshop traces Madrid's evolution from its medieval origins as Mayrit to the contemporary metropolis, exploring urbanism, architecture, daily life, and art through maps, bibliographic sources, and cultural itineraries. Each session connects the city's chronology with specific spaces, examining political, economic, social, and artistic dimensions.

Participants will journey from the medieval walled town and its coexistence spaces, through the Habsburg and Enlightenment eras when Madrid became the court and capital, to the 19th-century reforms and ensanche, and finally the 20th- and 21st-century metropolitan growth, neighborhoods, and contemporary heritage. The workshop is designed for adults and requires prior registration.
