Brescia is a Lombard city built around a Roman forum and Capitolium temple, with a UNESCO-listed Longobard monastery at Santa Giulia and a Renaissance Piazza della Loggia. A medieval castle on Cidneo Hill overlooks the center, and both Lake Garda and Lake Iseo are close enough for day trips.
