Siena
Siena is a walled medieval hill town in Tuscany, built around the shell-shaped Piazza del Campo and the black-and-white striped Duomo. The historic center is split into seventeen contrade wards that race bareback horses around the square twice a year in the Palio. Car traffic has been banned from the square since 1966.
