Fête de Saint Pierre aux Liens - Birżebbugia

Birżebbugia honours St Peter in Chains on Saturday 1 August 2026 — the saint's actual feast day — with a vibrant village festa. This locality celebrates its patron saint with traditional customs that have endured for generations. The village is transformed by colourful decorations, and brass band clubs parade through the streets in their distinctive uniforms. A procession carries the statue of St Peter in Chains through the village in solemn tribute. Evening brings a fireworks show that lights the night sky. Stalls throughout the village serve traditional Maltese refreshments: qubbajt (nougat), imqaret (pastries), and other local delicacies. The entire celebration is free to attend.
