Fête de l'Assomption de Notre-Dame - żebbug

Żebbug, a village near Mdina in central Malta, celebrates the Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady on Saturday 22 August 2026. The festa centres on a procession carrying Mary's statue through streets decorated with lights and religious ornamentation, led by a marching band club.

Food stalls sell qubbajt, imqaret and other seasonal Maltese fare through the day. Mid-August is peak festa season across Malta, with several villages marking their titular feast within the same fortnight — Żebbug's is one of a cluster held around the Assumption.

Fireworks, both ground-based and aerial, close the celebrations after dark.
