Ilídio Salteiro: Soneto at Panteão Nacional

Ilídio Salteiro's *Soneto* is an installation that bridges painting and poetry, unfolding in the grand space of Lisbon's Panteão Nacional. The work consists of fourteen large-format paintings (162 x 200 cm each), created between 2023 and 2025, arranged in two quadrangular and two triangular prisms. This structure mirrors the form of a Petrarchan sonnet, with two quatrains and two tercets, echoing the rhythms of poets like Camões and Miranda.

Visitors can explore how each painting functions as a visual verse, with iconographic and plastic "rhymes" linking the pieces. The installation invites a contemplative, aesthetic experience, drawing on sensitivity and imagination to generate metaphors. It is a rare opportunity to see contemporary art dialogue with classical poetic forms in a monumental setting.

The exhibition runs from July to October 2026, open Tuesday through Sunday. It is curated by Juan Sandoval and Olga Pomares, offering a thoughtful journey through the interplay of image and word.
