Life is the Game is an immersive extended reality (XR) experience at the MAAT - Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology in Lisbon. Created by Paulo Furtado, also known as The Legendary Tigerman, the piece uses a mixed reality headset to take participants on a timeless journey through the ritual passage between death and rebirth.
The experience explores universal themes of consciousness, identity, memory, and transcendence, inviting interaction with soundscapes and spaces that challenge one's perception of self in relation to collective life. The creative concept and script are by Eduardo Brito, a filmmaker and photographer, while the technological development is led by Yolanda Correia, a software engineer who has worked on projects for Meta, Google, and Stranger Things VR.
Visitors can expect a critical reflection on common reality, proposing new modes of temporal and spatial fruition that belong to the imaginary. The experience runs from Wednesday to Monday, 10am to 7pm, at the MAAT museum along the Tagus riverfront.
