Johnny Sketch & The Dirty Notes at Tipitina's

Born in 2001 and raised in New Orleans, Johnny Sketch & The Dirty Notes bring a classically trained sensibility to a sound that refuses to sit still. Their roots-rock base is cut with funk, rock riffs, Gypsy-Klezmer colour and a Latin tinge, all powered by a hard-hitting horn section. Expect an ensemble of long-serving alter egos — Johnny Sketch on guitar, electric cello and vocals, Busta Gnutt on bass, Dirty Johnny on drums, Johnny Rico on trumpet and flugelhorn, Sage Rouge on saxophones and Josh Paxton on keyboards.

The live show is built for the audience, moving from a calm, funky groove into a full-blown frenzy at the drop of a hat. After more than two decades together, the band’s chemistry comes through in every note, and their loyal following in New Orleans and beyond keeps the room electric. This particular Tipitina's show celebrates the group’s 25th anniversary.
